Simple Rhacodactylus set-up
This is a tank we made for a friend's pet crested gecko in 8 hours for approximately $60.00. The tank is a 30 gallon tall with screen lid ($40.00). The branches were taken from a maple tree outside and baked at 225*F for 20 minutes to sterilize before using. The back wall was made using one can of Greatstuff ($5.00) that set in 4 hours. After the Greatstuff had cured I used a tube of non-mold inhibitor black silicone ($5.00) to coat the back wall and pressed loose Coco fiber (3.00) all over it to give it a natural woody feel. All of the plants are fake silk plants that were purchased from a department store for floral decorative use ($5.00). The excess cocofiber was used to fill the bottom of the tank about 1" deep as a floor substrate. And a stick-on strip thermometer ($2.00) was added to the front of the tank to make sure the ambient temperature was safe for the gecko. This tank houses one adult male crested gecko but could easily house an adult pair.
